                      这组动词表示各种方式的“阅读”。

 

browse  “浏览”,指漫不经心地、随意翻阅,也可表示随便看看、逛逛。

 

        1) She browsed through the magazine without finding anything worth reading.

           (她浏览一下杂志,没有找到什么值得一读的东西。)

2) He likes to browse the news on the web before he start to work every day.

           (他喜欢每天开始工作之前在网上浏览一下新闻。)

        3) I’m new in town, so I’m just trying to find some cool places to browse around.

            (我第一次到镇上来,所以我正找到一些很酷的地方看看逛逛。

        4) Customers are welcome to browse our store without any pressure to buy.

             (我们店欢迎顾客随便看,没有购买的压力。)

 

 devour   本意是“吞食”、“吞 噬”,引申出爱不释手、津津有味地阅读迷恋或爱好的东西。

 

         1) We watched the flames devour the entire building.

            (我们看着大火吞噬了整栋大楼。)

         2) He found the journal closely relevant to his subject and devoured it for several hours in the reading room.

            (他找到一本与研究主题密切相关的杂志,于在阅览室里一连看了几个小时。)

 

scan   ①“扫描”,可用作动词和名词。

 ②“浏览”,指有目的地略读以找到需要的信息。

 

1)With this new machine, doctors can scan the neck of people with no symptoms of heart problems to detect hidden dangers.

             (运用这种新的机器,医生能扫描病人的颈部,在没有心脏问题先兆的情况下检测出隐患。)

        2) He scanned the report quickly to find the figures he needed to cite in his speech at the meeting.

            (他很快地浏览一下会上他要发言的报告的数据。)

                3)        3)After the incident, he scanned media reports to see if there is anything concerned with it.

            (事件发生后,他浏览了一下媒体报道,看看是否有与事件的消息。)

 

 

        skim  “快读”,指快速阅读以大概了解所读材料内容。

     

        1)You needn’t reading the article word by word; just skim it to catch the main ideas.

            (你不必逐字读这篇文章,只要略读抓住主要思想就可以。)

         2) I have only had time to skim over the plans for the new building, but they look good so far.

            (我时间紧只是粗粗看了一下新大楼的方案,但看起来很不错。)
