  文化繁荣应是,但不仅是文化产业的崛起、文化生产力的活跃。党的十六大报告就指出,文化的力量,深深熔铸在民族的生命力、创造力和凝聚力之中。必须把弘扬和培育民族精神作为文化建设极为重要的任务。

  文化强国,首先强在举国上下,都有那么一股气、一股劲,一股精气神。

  “精气神”在哪?“众里寻他千百度,蓦然回首,那人却在灯火阑珊处。”

  我不懂绘画,也未敢高攀范曾先生。但听很多人夸他的画如何“下笔如神”。耳闻多了,好奇,到南开大学讲学时,就悄悄去艺术系看一番。果然,那一幅幅“老子出关图”,出神入化,真的“有神”——活脱脱透着一股精气神,使人入则心灵震撼,出则心旷神怡。

  再读范曾的《法乳传灯》画册,你看一个个高僧站在那里,那神态、那眼神,分明也透着一股精气神。无论你赏画有无常识,对佛有无缘分,扑面而来的,就是这股精气神!

  “法”之如乳,传之如“灯”,要传的,正是这股精气神。

  由于西方率先实现了现代化,“现代性”也就常被理解为西方化。若干民族国家不断在器物、制度和观念上,在生产方式和生活方式上模仿西方。“三片文化”——美国的电脑芯片,好莱坞的电影大片,麦当劳的油炸薯片,跟着全球化而席卷全球。但西方的“普世价值”中,却分明缺少了精气神。现代化引发了迷心逐物的现代病,让人心浮气躁不思进取,心烦意乱不知所从,心高气盛欲壑难填。

  不可否认,文艺复兴以来人本主义的弘扬,创造了近现代人类文明的辉煌。但当下人类文明的交汇已走到量变到质变的临界点,生态危机、金融危机、社会危机……种种危机呼唤人本主义在否定之否定意义上的继承和发扬,既要强调作为个体的自由与权利,尊重人的本能欲望,不可“尽天理,灭人欲”;也要抑制人的过度膨胀,不可走向另一极端,“为人欲,灭天理”。人类欲望的无限膨胀,必致人类自我毁灭。英国历史学家汤因比说过,“避免人类自杀之路,在这点上现在各民族中具有最充分准备的,是两千年来培育了独特思维方法的中华民族。”包括儒释道在内的中国传统文化之中,确实蕴涵着人类可持续发展的智慧,透着一股精气神。

  这精气神的载体,滋润中国文化的“法乳”,挽救人类危机的“传灯”,便是一个“和”字。“礼之用,和为贵,先王之道斯为美。”

  “和”的精神,是一种承认,一种尊重,一种感恩,一种圆融。“和”的特质,是和而不同,互相包容,求同存异,共生共长。“和”的途径,是以对话求理解,和睦相处;以共识求团结,和衷共济;以包容求和谐,和谐发展。 “和”的方式,是一分为二基础上的合二为一,和而不同基础上的求同存异,良性竞争基础上的奋进创新,我为人人基础上的人人为我。“和”的哲学,是“会通”,既有包容,更有择优;既有融合更有贯通;既有继承,更有创新,是一以贯之、食而化之、从善如流、美而趋之。“和”的佳境,是各美其美,美人之美,美美与共,天下和美。

  “精气神”在哪?《法乳传灯》虽是一本画册,也能给人灵感,催人寻觅,促人沉思。“法”之如乳,传之如“灯”。“和”乃最贵,“和谐”最尊。
