真实的霍元甲：曾入黑社会 后人忙挣钱少练武

得到孙中山赞许

张园擂台比武虽没打成，但在上海掀起了习武热潮，各大学校蜂拥而至，邀请霍元甲及其弟子去讲习武术。这一时期，有一人对霍元甲影响很大，促成了霍元甲从讲求传统武德，向武术救国转变。这个人，就是霍元甲青年时代的知己农劲荪。

霍元甲是在脚行干活时认识农劲荪的。当时的农劲荪是孙中山手下的革命者，在天津开办怀庆药栈，以采药为由掩护革命。霍自正告诉记者，农劲荪早年留学日本，通外语，有学问，也爱好武术。“孙中山希望他结交一些武术名家，为推翻满清统治作准备，而曾祖父又渴望学知识，两人一见如故，成了莫逆之交。”

1910年6月1日，霍元甲在农劲荪等人帮助下，在上海创办了“中国精武体操会”（后改名精武体育会）。霍自正说，在寻求救国的道路上，霍元甲迈出了很不容易的两步：“第一是打破家规，开始收外姓人为徒。霍家七代家传绝技迷踪拳，向来是不传给外姓人的，为救国，曾祖父破了家规；第二是把迷踪拳改为迷踪艺，让花哨的套路变得更实用，以便让人们能够尽快掌握要领，学会防身。”

迷踪艺以霍家绝技为基础，又囊括了各派之精华。霍自正说：“此拳不难学，但是极难练，柔中有刚，迈步如猫，急如闪电。与人交手时，往往对方还没有看清门道就被击倒，令对手眼花缭乱，迷失踪迹，因此得名。”孙中山先生对霍元甲将迷踪拳公之于世的高风亮节非常赞许，亲笔写下了“尚武精神”四个大字，赠送给精武体育会。

死在日本人手里

然而，谁也没有料到，精武会发展的道路却异常曲折。1910年9月，霍元甲在上海被日本人陷害。据史料记载，霍元甲是中毒而亡。霍自正说：“当年有一个日本柔道队得知我曾祖父挫败了俄国、英国大力士，又创办精武会，很不服气，选了十几名高手来比武。结果从领队到队员，没有一个能打赢曾祖父，那个领队非常嫉恨。他假装与曾祖父交友求教，其实是在寻找机会报复。那天我曾祖父咳嗽，日本领队说让一位名医给他看看病，并和一个叫秋野的日本医师串通好，在给曾祖父的药里下了毒。我们霍家人都是农民，没有太深的城府。曾祖父人也比较直，没看出日本人的凶残本性。喝完药，病情越来越严重。”

1910年9月14日，霍元甲在上海逝世。他的弟子感到蹊跷，找到医院不断查实，才检测出是一种名为“烂肺药”的毒药所致。“但由于当时社会环境复杂，秋野早就逃之夭夭，也无处追查。”霍元甲去世后，先葬于上海，一年后，才将灵柩移到天津老家。“家里人告诉我，当时整个天津都轰动起来，成千上万的乡亲们出来迎接，入葬时大家都哭了。”

霍元甲遇害考验着霍家子孙。当时，他有两个儿子和两个女儿，长子霍东章，次子霍东阁，大女儿霍东茹，二女儿霍东玲，另有一个女儿霍东琴还在王氏腹中。王氏硬是克服一切困难把孩子拉扯成人。长子霍东章一直在家务农，次子霍东阁就接下了父亲未竟的事业。

当时，精武会风雨飘摇，面临着解散的危险。农劲荪等人立即北上，将霍元甲的弟弟霍元卿和儿子霍东阁接到上海任教练。霍东阁虽然只有16岁，但武艺过人。他一边教授学员武功，一边自学深造。在霍元卿和霍东阁的努力下，精武会学员的武功有了很大长进，再加上农劲荪、孙中山等人的经济支持，精武会好不容易渡过了危难。

将中国功夫传到南洋

继霍元甲之后，霍家后代中公认的传奇人物便是霍东阁。在他的管理下，精武会发展壮大得很快，先是在上海成立了三个分会，之后又在汉口、广东、香港等地建立分会。1919年，25岁的霍东阁来到广州。据霍自正回忆，霍东阁在广州海军总部任教时，当时控制整个广州的军阀陈炯明对他极为器重。但让霍东阁没有想到的是，到了最后，陈炯明背叛孙中山，官兵集体发动叛乱，这让霍东阁心里极为后悔，于是想离开广州，到南洋去闯荡闯荡。

霍自正回忆说：“爷爷的第一任妻子不愿意和他去南洋受苦，觉得跟着爷爷在广州语言不通，习惯不同，已经吃尽了苦头，要去那么远的南洋，她怎么也不愿意了。所以要留在天津。爷爷到印尼后，1935年娶了第二任妻子叶玉梅，她是当地的华侨。”

霍东阁一生有三个儿子和一个女儿，儿子雅亭、文亭、文亮和女儿月华。雅亭、文亭是他和中国妻子的孩子，而文亮、月华是他在印尼和第二任妻子生的孩子。霍自正是次子霍文亭之子。

在霍自正看来，霍东阁选择去南洋，“是因为当时那里信息隔绝，印尼爪哇岛上居住的很多华人都不知道精武会。他希望把这个地方当成一个切入口，让精武会走出国门”。最初，霍东阁一家遭了不少罪。“爷爷刚到爪哇泗水传扬武艺时，人们都把他当做江湖卖艺的。他白天在中华、振文学校教国操和技击术，晚上在烟草公司教职员，全部都是义务的。他身上的钱越来越少，那是他最窘迫的时期。”
