wanderer  “流浪者”、“漫游者”,凡指流浪汉。

 

1) The general manager was a poor wanderer when he was a little boy.

     (总经理小时候是一个贫穷的流浪者。)

 2) The old couple always show their sympathy towards the wanderers .

         (这对老夫妇总是对流浪汉表现出同情。)

 

tramp  “流浪者”,指没有经济来源,到处流浪、靠打短工和接受救济或乞讨生活的人。

 

1) Every morning the tramp would come to the neighborhood to beg for food by playing some funny tricks at doors.

          (每天早晨流浪汉就来到居民区耍一些小把戏乞讨食物。)

2) Gorky became a wandering tramp in childhood because of the poverty and misery of his family.

   (由于家里贫穷和不辛,高尔基童年成为一名流浪汉。)

 

vagrant   指流浪汉或无业游民,也可指乞丐或无赖。

 

1) The story depicted the life of gipsy vagrants in some European Countries.

          (故事描写了生活在一些欧洲国家的吉普赛流浪汉。)

 2) Though he is from a big family, he likes to make friends with vagrants.

         (虽然他出生于一个大家族,但他喜与流浪汉欢结交朋友。)

 

drifter   “流浪者”,指毫无去处,单身一人的流浪者。

   

1) A drifter built his camp in the wood, stayed a couple of days and then moved on.

          (一位流浪者在树林搭了一个窝,待了几天后继续去四处漂流。)

2) It was strange enough that I could see the same drifter in three different cities.

   (在三个不同的城市我都看到了这个的流浪汉,这让我感到很惊奇。)

 

    nomad   指因打猎、经商或因季节变化而随群落迁移、到处漂泊的人。

 

1) Asian nomads brought strange cultural artifacts with them into Europe.

 (亚洲的一些游牧民把一些稀奇古怪的文物带入了欧洲。)

     2) There are several tribes of nomads in the western parts of the country.

           (这个国家的西部地区居住着几个游牧民族部落。)
