太极养生灸图片:Tasty?Fun:看西方人“反译”西方品牌
我写过一篇文章,叫做“翻译难,反译更难”。翻译是用本国文字解读外国文字,而“反译”是把翻译成本国文字的外国文字再还原为外国文字。这么倒腾两次,当然很难保证原意不走样了。举例来说,Cappuccino 这款咖啡因饮料,在汉语中一般译为“卡布其诺”,中国达人每天挂在嘴上,久而久之说得多了,还以为就是咱博大精深的中文词。所以翻译成英语的时候想不到或者不知道Cappuccino,而把“卡布其诺”译为the card cloth its promise。再举个咖啡的例子,“拿铁咖啡”本是café latte,曾被反译为一个有动词、有宾语的祈使句:take the coffee of iron,成为中式英语的极品。
现在西方人也对这种“反译”的游戏感兴趣了。话说昨天的国际先驱论坛报在第二版刊登了一篇发自北京的报道(Michael Wines),题目是The Science of Chinese Branding(中国品牌命名的学问)。文章反译了不少有趣的西方品牌:
