《應用英文》淺易的句子 「微妙」的含義(二) Try to be on the ball; don't drop it.

好好苦幹,不要放棄。 (it指ball)

(也就是:focus on everything you do.)

The professional dancer were getting on the ball.

專業舞蹈家表演得很精彩。

Getting (或being) on the ball. Mr. A finally finished the project.

A先生下了一番工夫,最後完成計劃。

(這裡用getting,表示進展較慢,故加 finally,比較合理。但如用 being,則不必加 finally)

I am on to him.

to be on to someone (or something)意思是知道某人的意圖或內幕(to be aware of someone or something)

也就是:I know what he is up to and what he will do next.所以上句意思是:我知道他搞什麼鬼。

其他造句:

Stop playing dirty tricks on us; we are on to you now.

不要耍花招;我們現在知道你們在搞什麼花樣。

The more I talk to her, the more I am on to her.

我與她談得越多,越識透她的意圖。
