它是世界上最古老神秘的马种之一，它曾伴随曹操、成吉思汗、亚历山大大帝征战沙场，被称为最有灵性的动物之一，“精灵般的神物”； 它具有无穷的持久力和耐力，是长距离的骑乘马；因为它的珍贵稀有，曾引发历史上唯一一次因夺马而发起的战争；它也曾作为和平的礼物被赠送给中国。它就是传说中的“汗血宝马”。

　　名马的祖先：“汗血宝马”，本名阿哈尔捷金马，此马产于土库曼斯坦科佩特山脉和卡拉库姆沙漠间的阿哈尔绿洲，是经过三千多年培育而成的世界上最古老的马种之一。阿哈尔捷金马头高颈细，四肢修长，皮薄毛细，步伐轻盈，力量大、速度快、耐力强。目前，汗血宝马的最快速度记录为84天跑完4300公里。德、俄、英等国的名马大都有阿哈尔捷金马的血统。

　　土库曼斯坦是中亚第二大国家，虽然大部分国土被沙漠覆盖但其资源却极为丰富，天然气储量占世界1/4。让人记住土库曼斯坦的不光只有极为重要的资源，还有令世界疯狂的国宝阿哈尔捷金马，也就是俗称的“汗血宝马”，目前全世界只有约2000匹，“汗血宝马”也曾作为国礼赠送给中国的领导人。

　　 因为传说它耐力持久可日行千里，在长途奔跑后，肩膀处会流出鲜血一样的液体，故在中国，这种马一直被神秘地称为汗血宝马。其实至今，关于这种马“流血”的原因仍无定论，有解释为人的视觉偏差，也有人说是马身上的寄生虫噬咬所致。

　　帝王的坐骑：阿哈尔捷金马常见的毛色有淡金、枣红、银白及黑色等。阿哈尔捷金马历史大都作为宫廷用马。亚历山大·马其顿、成吉思汗等许多帝王都曾以这种马为坐骑。在中国历史文献中，阿哈尔捷金马被称为“天马”和“大宛良马”。

　　如今仅存2000匹：阿哈尔捷金种马场位于阿什哈巴德西南郊，始建于1922年，前身为里海养马厩，1992年改名为尼亚佐夫总统种马场。阿哈尔捷金马总数约2000匹，曾多次作为国礼赠给外国领导人。近年该国致力于向国际市场推荐阿哈尔捷金马。

　　最高身价上千万美元：阿哈尔捷金马是土库曼斯坦的国宝，是地位和身份的象征。据称，市场上汗血宝马的价格非常昂贵，通常是几十万美元一匹，有的身价甚至高达上千万美元。按照土库曼斯坦的风俗，阿哈尔捷金马只送给最尊贵的朋友。

　　 名马“玉石”

　　“玉石”之父曾在1995年国际马匹速度赛中夺魁，荣获奥林匹克金奖，并因此被一中东石油大亨以1000万美元的天价购走。其祖父来头更大，曾在朱可夫元帅胯下，参加1945年5月9日苏联反法西斯胜利日的红场阅兵。这种马体高，体型优美，头细颈高，四肢修长，皮薄毛细，轻快灵活,可以与狸猫媲美。
