Enable Serial Wire Trace

To enable Serial Wire Trace on an NXP LPC17xx device:

  • Connect the J-Link/J-Trace debugger adapter with the board's Cortex Debug connector and with the host computer.
  • Configure μVision to capture Serial Wire Trace data.

Configure μVision to capture Serial Wire Trace data

  1. Open the dialog Options for Target — Debug.

  2. Enable Use, select Cortex-M/R J-LINK/J-Trace, and click Settings to open the Target Driver Setup dialog.

  3. Select SW.
  4. Click the Trace tab.

  5. Set Enable.
  6. Under Trace Port set Serial Wire Output - UART/NRZ and enable Autodetect max SWO Clk.
  7. The Core Clock must correspond to the device configuration.

Start the debugging session and verify the captured trace data with a μVision window.

  • Use the examples delivered with the Keil board MCB1700 as a reference.
