The president says Lin is a "great story," White House spokesman says.

President Barack Obama is "very impressed" with New York Knicks dazzler Jeremy Lin, whose last-second heroics gave his team another win Tuesday night.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said Obama watched highlights Wednesday from the Knicks win over the Raptors.

"It's a great story and the president was saying as much this morning," Carney said.

He added that "it's the kind of sports story that transcends the sport itself."

The Knicks had trailed by as much as 17 points, and were behind by nine entering the fourth quarter.

They won 90-87, though, thanks to Lin's three-pointer with 0.5 seconds left in the game.

Lin, a point guard from Harvard, was essentially unknown before his rise to lead the team on a six-game winning streak.
