A man who is able to live a simple life by eating the root of vegetable can take up any challenging tasks.

He who maintains his dignity may be left alone for a while; but he who bows to the rich and powerful will be shunned forever. A man of noble mind and character is the one whose sight reaches beyond immediate circumstance and whose vision extends beyond current existence, thus he fully understands that it is better to endue short-term loneliness in this life than to suffer everlasting torment of isolation in future.

2

He who knows little about the world is normally more honest towards life; he who delves deep into the world is often more cunning in dealing with people. Thus a man of noble character would rather be a simple guy than become an intricate schemer; rather be an untamed bloke than be an over calculating plotter.

3

The view of a man of dignity shall be like the sun in the blue sky that is not hidden before others; the talent of a man of dignity shall be like the treasure in private jar that is not shown off to others.

4

To frequently hear opposing opinions and to constantly face challenging situations are the best ways to speed the progress of your personal cultivation. If you only pay attention to appeasing words and only take easy path to navigate your life, you are just like the one who relies on drugs to acquire cheap pleasure – you are ruin your life for a momentary high.

5

When gale winds and heavy rains rage through the woods, birds are all reduced to groan and lament. Once the storm is over and sun pops up again, entire bush is glistening with delight. Thus we know the world cannot do without gental breeze and people cannot live without merry spirits.

6

Real flavour does not lie in sumptuous dishes; only simple food can give forth pure taste.

True man is not the one who performs miracles but the one knowing how to live an ordinary life.

7

The view of a man of dignity shall be like the sun in the blue sky that is not hidden before others; the talent of a man of dignity shall be like the treasure in private jar that is not shown off to others.

8

If you sit in the quite night meditating to the point that you let go of all your wandering thoughts, you'll discover your true self within. It brings you rejoice for having realised who you really are, but it also makes you ashamed to keep being fooled by false perceptions.

9

People living the simple life are more likely to carry themselves with dignity, and people indulging in lavish lifestyles are more ready to bend their knees. It is thus noticed that high aspiration can only be seen in plain and clear existence while moral integrity can be compromised by extravagance.

10

Be generous and fair towards those standing before you; leave legacy that is positive and enduring to those coming after you.

11

Where the path is narrow, leave some space for others to pass; when the food is testy, offer your mates a bite of the delicacy. This is a way to ensure long term happiness and safety.

12

Be an honourable friend; keep a childlike heart.

13

Do not scramble for favour or profit; do not lag behind when offering contribution; do not take more than you deserve; do not let a day pass by without making progress in personal cultivation.

14

When handling affairs, taking one step back can bring forward progress; when dealing with relationships, being generous to others will benefit yourself.

15

No matter how great achievement one has accomplished, being self-conceit will cancel it out; no matter what horrendous crime one has committed, sincere repentance can redeem the karmic debt.

16

By sharing the glory of your success with others, you can keep jealousy and hatred from distance; by sharing the responsibility for mistakes made by others, you will gain an opportunity to advance your self-cultivation progress.

17

Whatever you do, don't go extreme, or you'll run into a wall of opposition. If you can't tolerate anything that is less than perfect, your undertaking is deemed to fail sooner or later either due to internal conflict or as the result of external threat.
