ordinary, common, usual 与 general 的区别
1. ordinary 意为“普通的”、“平凡的”，强调合乎常规、并不特殊。如：
in ordinary dress 穿便服 an ordinary working day 一个普通工作日
用于 out of the ordinary，意为“不平常”、“非凡”。如：
This was nothing out of the ordinary. 那很平常。
Such a long delay is out of the ordinary. 耽搁这样长时间是少有的。
2. common 意为“常见的”、“不足为奇的”，强调出现的次数频繁或范围广泛。如：
Is this word in common use? 这是常用词吗?
It’s too common to mention. 这是司空见惯的，不值一提。
It’s a mistake quite common among students. 这是一个学生常犯的错误。
注：common 还可表示“共同的”、“共有的”。如：
It’s a common cup. 那是一个公用茶杯。
Britain and America share a common language. 英国和美国共用一种语言。
