南京梅花糕:中国版GPS试运行:美国网民炸锅了!

BEIJING—China has begunoperating a homegrown satellite navigation service that is designed to providean alternative to the U.S. Global Positioning System and, according to defenseexperts, could help the Chinese military to identify, track and strike U.S.ships in the region in the event of armed conflict.
The Beidou Navigation Satellite Systemstarted providing initial positioning, navigation and timing services to Chinaand its "surrounding areas" on Tuesday, Ran Chengqi, a spokesman forthe system, told a news conference.He said China had so far launched 10satellites for the Beidou system, including one this month, and planned to putsix more in orbit in 2012 to enhance the system's accuracy and expand itsservice to cover most of the Asia Pacific region.
It will be interesting to see how much theaccuracy of this improves with more satellites in the air and whether they openit up for people in other counties to use commercially.
北京——中国开始提供国产卫星导航服务，以此作为美国全球定位系统的替代品，据防务专家分析，（北斗导航系统）将会帮助中国军方识别、追踪以及攻击美国在武装冲突地区的船只。
星期二，北斗导航系统的发言人冉承其在新闻发布会上宣称北斗卫星导航系统开始向中国以及‘周边地区’提供初始定位、导航以及计时等服务。他说迄今为止，中国已经发射了10颗（包括本月的1颗）卫星用于北斗系统，并计划于2012年再发射6颗卫星，增加系统的精度，并将其服务范围扩展到绝大多数亚太地区。（引用新闻）
天空上多了这么多卫星，到底能够提高多少精度值得期待，还有他们是否会向其它国家的人提供商业服务。 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

3、C.PuffsWithout the ability to identify WHERE yourtargets are (which GPS/Glonass/Galileo etc. does not do) GPS isn't going to dosquat to your ability to hit them. GPS isn't some all-seeing, magic, system. Infact, it doesn't "see" anything.

6、Nightsky That's why China did an ASAT test as well -satellite disruption will be a major advantage in any future war. Of course,there is a treaty forbidding weapons in space and for space. However, I thinkit's just the Euros still believing in paper magic. Russia,China and the US, probably also India will have plans for shootingdown satellites in case of war.

They 'll get there at some point in the nearfuture.

8、subotai Right. Even today, satellites are only partof the equation for location services. In the US a huge amount of accuracy isgained in the form of permanent base stations and Differential GPS. I haveheard rumors that Chinais deploying these as well, but have seen no proof.

10、ISNJHI can see one country that would be interestedin using China's new GPSsystem in Iran, esp if theycould have access to the navigation system that could not be switched off like America's GPS.
