Last week, I visited my grandpa! That day was quite hot, and I arrived there at the middle of the day. It takes me nearly two hours to get to his house.

He was drawing a fish when I was getting into the house. I’m very surprised that he began at the tail of the fish. I thought that people always begin at the head of the fish. That is why I was surprised!

I asked him why he didn’t begin at the head of the fish.

He thought for a few seconds and said: ‘Why don’t me begin at the tail! I think that begin at the head is more difficult than begin at the tail! ’

When I got home, I thought about his worlds over and over again! In the end, I know that you can do your work in a way which is a little different. But the different means only that you find it easier to work in that way!

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I’m very happy to stand here and give you a speech. Today, my topic is protecting the earth.

First please think about a question, when the earth dies, where will you live? Yes, the earth is our home. But now, a lot of human beings are destroying it. It’s everyone’s duty to protect the earth.

For example, do you know “global warming”？If we don’t protect the earth now，sea levels will rise and some countries will be covered by water. If so, we can see the scene in the film the day after tomorrow and 2012. Don’t you think it’s very terrible?

We must do from ourselves. We can print double-sided, turn off the lights before we go out, remember to bring your own shopping bag and so on.

We can, we should, we must protect our earth. Let’s do from now on!

What a terrible summer holiday

When I was at school. I was looking forward to having the summer holiday. Because I don’t need to go to school any more. But, now I found my summer holiday is so terrible.

  In the beginning of July, I thought I can get up late, and I can do many interesting things. But I was worry. As usual, my mother need to work, so she still go t up very early. She always woke me up and made breakfast for me .Then she said to me :’ You must do your homework at home, you’d better not play the computer, you shouldn’t watch too much TV. “ My mom said them again and again. I felt very disappointed because I didn’t enjoy my summer holiday any more.

  On the eighth of July. My mother told me that I should have lessons in 20 days.

So I went to the lessons….I did exercises and did my homework every day. Now  I am very tired and bored. But I have to do it.

  What a terrible summer holiday.

 Lose my weight

My mother often says to me :’You are a little fat. I think you’d better lose your weight.” When I hear that ,I am always very impatient. So I decided to lose my weight.

  I think I shouldn’t have ice-cream any more. Because they are too sweet. On the first day, when I saw my friends around me had the ice-cream. I said to myself :’ I am on a diet. I must keep it up.” So I didn’t have the ice-cream.

  On the second day, my mother said to me:” Do you want have some ice-cream and sweet? They are very delicious.” “I decline!” I said. But I still want to have the sweet. “What a pity!” my mother said and shook her head.

  On the third day. My mother said it to me again. But I said:” Please bring an ice-cream for me, thank you!”

Hello, everyone. My name is Lily, I’m a student in No.29 Middle School. Now I will tell you something about my hometown—Nanjing.

I live in Nanjing about 13 years. I like this city very much.

This is a beautiful city. There are many parks there. My favourite park is Xuanwu Park, because it is near my house. There is a big lake in it. Sometimes, my father and I go boating in the lake. At weekends, you can play games, ride bike or walk your dog in the park. That is very nice!

This is a funny city. There are many zoos there. Most of people like going to the Hongshan Zoo. There are many animals in it, like monkeys, pandas, tigers, lions and other lovely animals. There are have four animals plays everyday, I like watch it very much!

This is a green city. Nanjing has some mountains, Zijing Mountain, Hongshan Mountain, Xixia Mountain…Beside the road, there are lots of trees. In the summer, they can give people cool. My father likes climb Zijing Mountain if he doesn’t have work, it is good for his health!

This is a history city. Nanjing has a long history. If you want to know the history about Nanjing, you can go and visit Nanjing.

A trip to Xiamen

On the 9th of July, we went to Xiamen by air. I was very excited. Xiamen is a big island with some small islands. It isn’ t as big as Nanjing. We had a good time there.

My favourite place in Xiamen was Gulang Island. It took about 15 minutes to go there by ship. We saw the blue sea and the clouds in the sky. There were many old houses. Some of them were built in the Second World War like the old Japanese Embassy. There was a mountain called “Ri Guangyan” on the island. It was a little high. We visited a clavichord museum. Some clavichords still could be used. Near the museum, there was a small beach. Some people played on the beach.

We also went to Tulou in Fujian province. It was about 300 kilometres from Xiamen. The biggest building was called ‘Chengqi Lou’ .

Xiamen was a beautiful city. Zhongshan Road was the busiest road in it. You could shop untill eleven o’ clock at night there. We ate lots of fruit, too. For example, we ate bananas , pinaapples and so on. The most surprising thing about it, was that some bananas were red and even about 50 centimetres long. The city had a temple. Its name was Nan Putuo Temple. We also visited Xiamen University. It was bigger than Gulang Island. There was a big lake in it. We could see some ducks swimming on the lake.

Xiamen is a good place to travel. I like it very much.

the Youth Olympic Games

Nanjing will hold the Youth Olympic Games in 2014. It is a very beautiful city. It has many sights. Now I’ll show you around Nanjing.

Nanjing is a very modern city. Xin Jie Kou is the busiest district in the city. It has many Chinese restaurant and Western restaurant. So you can choose any food you like there. There are a lot of good shops. You can shop until ten o’ clock at night in most shopping malls. There are many tall buildings in the city. They usually have 15 to 35 floors. We like to live in tall buildings because we can be close to our friends.

Xuanwu Lake Park is near my home. It is very large. There is a big lake in the park. You can go rowing there. You can also see some beautiful flowers and trees.

Dr.Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum and Mingxiao Mausoleum are very famous. They are near Zijin Mountain. In the mountain you can visit Ling Gu Temple, Ocean Park, Zixia lake, Dr.Sun Botanical Garden , Zijin Mountain Observatory and so on.

Confucius Temple is my favouite place. You can find lots of food. You can eat Nanjing Salty Duck. It is very delicious. Every night, there are many flower lanterns in it. The Qihuai River cuts across the park. It is very comfortable to row on the river.

Nanjing is a wonderful place to go. Welcome to Nanjing !

Welcome to Nanjing, a great city.

In 2014, Nanjing will hold the Youth Olympic Games. It will be a wonderful pageant.

Nanjing is the capital of Jiangsu Province, it is a big city. Nanjing is famous for the Salt Duck and Qinhuai River. Our country ，China， is  the third biggest country in the world and it is also very big. The Great Wall is very famous in the world. Many foreigners come to China to see this great miracle.

Nanjing is my hometown, I hope it can be more and more wonderful and it will be a famous city in the world in the future. I love Nanjing, I love China. I hope our country can be more and more prosperous.

Welcome everyone come to China, come to Nanjing to visit the places of interest.

When I went to Oregon,I saw many things different from China,
       First,the air in Portland was very clean.And there were many trees here.There were a few people.Each family had at least one car or van.There weren't any traffic lights in Portland except Downtown.When people drove cars to the cross roads,they drove slowly and looked around even if there were no cars.Make sure there were no cars,then they went straight on.
       Second,I found that people's living place were different form in China. People livid in houses there and people in China were in flats.Each of the family had a garden and a garage.
      Third,most families had many children.My Host family had three children.The oldest of them is Alec.He is 14 years old.The second is Aidan.He is 12 years old.Another is Cian.He is 8 years old.My Host family is very friendly.They always help me.And we had a good time during the trip.
      The last one is about America food.There are many kinds of food.I liked all of them,like pizza,hamburgers and chips.But I think there is too much sugar in the food.So many Americans are fat.In America, people can drink water anywhere in house,because the water is very clean.For breakfast, people usually have oatmeal with milk.They usually make lunch by themselves.Dinner is very delicious.People usually have chicken,hamburgers and vegetables.There also have many fast foods.I like MacDonas and KFC best!

Youth Olympic Games holds every four years. The second Youth Olympic Game will be held in Nanjing in four years’ time.

Nanjing is one of the biggest citys in China. There are lots of traditional chinese food in Nanjing, too. Nanjing is also the capital of Jiangsu Province. Jiansu is in the east of China. China is a big developing country in the world. I belive that China will be a developed country in the future.

Now Nanjing is preparing about the Youth Olympic Game in 2014. We have so many stadiums so we just need to build a hocky field.

We are all very excited and are looking forward to the Youth Olympic Game because we have never been held before in our city.

Belive that Nanjing is ready. Welcome to China! Welcome to a country which has a long history!

A visit to EXPO

This summer holiday I went to 2010 shanghai EXPO. It opened at May 1st, and will close at October,31st.

The EXPO park is so big that we have to move by bus. I visited many pavilions like German Pavilion, Australia pavilion and so on. But I like Saudi Arabia Pavilion best. It is the most popular pavilion of all. We waited in line for six hours to visited it. But I think I was worth waiting.

It like a moon boat. And there is many palm trees around it. The pavilion's main attraction is a huge cinema screen. The 1,600 square-meter screen is larger than any other cinema screen on earth. I went into the cinema like went into sky. We flew over Saudi Arabia and the big desert. It was wonderful! The 'Arabian Oasis' is on the top floor. It is a hanging garden and it has a good view of the EXPO park.

The Saudi Arabia Pavilion made me so excited. I won't forget it forever!

This summer, I went to Hong Kong. I went there by train. I thought this is a wonderful trip. The first day, I lived in Shenzhen. The second day. My mother and I went to Hong Kong Disneyland. This was a fairy tale world. There were many lovely people who we just watch them on the TV. That night, we lived in Hollywood hotel in the Disneyland. The following day, we stayed half a day in the Disney and in the afternoon we went to Dong Yong. There was a big shopping mall in the Dong Yong. I bought lots of things in it. In the evening, we went to Avenue of star and saw lots of stars fingerprint in it. In the night, we went to our hotel-----Bo Li Hotel. I thought that I am very luck. My mother ordered a common room before we went there, but when we got there, there was only business suite. So we had a free room.

The fourth day, we went to Macao by ship and came back in the afternoon. At about 8pm~12pm, we shopping in the Tong Luowan.

The last day in Hong Kong. We went to the ocean Park. In the afternoon, we went back to Shen zhen and the next day, we fly to Nanjing.

This is my wonderful trip!

The Youth Olympic Games is held every four years. The second youth Olympic Games will be held in Nanjing in 2014.

Nanjing is my hometown. Nanjing is the provincial capital of Jiangsu. I love Nanjing.

Nanjing is a beautiful city. There are lots of trees around our city. And there are many places of interest in Nanjing like Xuanwu Lake, Mochou Lake, Zijin Mountain and so on. The people from all over the word can have a good time in Nanjing.

The slogan of the youth Olympic Games is “growing up with the Youth Olympic Games together.”

Welcome to Nanjing. We are waiting for you!

I met a girl called Dan when I had lessons in summertime. She is two months older than me. However, she is a 13-year-old girl. 

Her seat is in front of mine when we had lessons. Her round face and bright eyes make her look so lovely. She had shoulder-length hair before. However, she has long-black hair now. She is not very tall. She is 158 centimeters. Because of she is not very tall she looks so lovely.

Dan is good at English .She is one of the best students in our class. Everyone in our class likes her. She is also a very kind girl. She always helps me with my English. Of course, I am very grateful for her help. She is very musical, too. She has her own MP4. She listens music everywhere, so I think she is fond of music.

She said that she would be successful in the future. And I believe her words!

My Travel To Greece

I went to Greece last month.We flew to there from Shanghai.We arrived in July 16th.There weren’t many tall buildings there.Do you know why?Because there are many earthquakes there.The day was long.The sun set down at nine o’clock..Do you that’s amazing?We ate a kind of Greece food called “Mossaka”.It was made of eggs,meat,potatoes and eggplants.Many people said it’s very delicious.But we thought it’s just so so.

July 17th we went to Island Santorini by ship.It took us about 9 hours to get there.Because it’s the southest island in all the islands.In the evening,we went to the main town called Oia for the sun set.After that,we had pasta there.My cousin and I like it.The cheese on it was delicious.All the houses were  white and blue.We also a famous church called Romantic.It’s famous all of the world.In fact,most of the churches there are like it.Because it’s hard to find.So it’s the most fanous one there.

July 19th we went another island called Mykonos.It’s bigger than Santorini.We also went to the main town.I don’t like the island because there’re so many gay there.In the bar,or in the street.There was a large called Paradise.There were many gay there.The most amazing thing was people who went to paradise can take all their clothes off.Maybe Chinese can’t understand it.But maybe people there think that’s cool.

July 21st we went back to Athens.We visited the akropoli.Of course we took some photos.Next day,we went to shopping.We bought many things made of olive.They were not too expensive.That day I was very happy.Because it was my birthday.Happy birthday to me~Haha.That day we went back on air.We finished our trip to Greece.

July 23rd we came back. What a great trip!

Welcome to Nanjing to watch the YOG

Everyone knows the second YOG will be held in Nanjing. As a student in Nanjing, I am very proud of this. My dear friends, do you know Nanjing? If not, just let me introduce my beautiful hometown——Nanjing to you.

Nanjing is in the south-eastern part of China. It is the capital of Jiangsu Province and it’s a prominent place in Chinese history and culture. Nanjing is listed as one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China. Apart from having been the capital of China for six dynasties, Nanjing has also served as a national hub of education, research, transportation and tourism throughout history.  Do you think Nanjing is very terrific?

Nanjing is not only a city with a long history, but also a city with beautiful scenery. The tree of Nanjing is the cedars and the flower of Nanjing is the plum blossoms. Surrounded by the Yangtzi River and mountains, Nanjing also enjoys natural scenery. Natural lakes such as Xuanwu Lake and Mochou Lake are located in the center of the city and are easily accessible to the public. Natural hills like Zijin Mountain are covered with many different kinds of trees.

Nanjing is also a good place to travel. If you come to Nanjing, you can go to Jiming Temple, Mochou Lake, the Confucius Temple, Xuanwu Lake, Qixia Mountain and so on. I hope you can have a good time here.

Nanjing has much delicious food. It’s famous for its Ducks cooking, such as Jinling Duck, Salty Duck…If you want to have some snacks, I suggest that you can go to the Lion Bridge on Hunan Road and you can go to the Confucius Temple, too.

After reading the passage above, do you think Nanjing is wonderful? Because I am a student in Nanjing, I want be a volunteer, if so, I can help many people who with different culture. Of course, I will ask my classmates to become a group of volunteers and to spread the sports culture and local culture to the guests. I think it is a good idea for us to show the foreigners the mien of our Chinese people.

Come on, the YOG! Come on, China! Come on, Nanjing！I hope that the YOG will be successful.

My ideal school

First, there is a lot of beautiful girls in my ideal school.

I don't like to get up early, so my ideal school starts at 10 a.m. It finishes at about 4 p.m. so we have lots of time to do something we like for ourselves.

I think half an hour for lunch will be enough. We have healthy and tasty meals, and each of us can have some fruit after lunch.

I don’t like PE lessons, so we seldom have PE lessons. I’m crazy about History so we have History every day. Of course, English is very important. We have English ten times a week. I hate Math, so we don’t have to have Maths.

Every classroom has two air-conditions. they can make us feel comfortable in summer. There is also a new computer in each classroom. There is a football field, a swimming pool and five tennis courts in my ideal school.

There are lots of after-school activities. And we don’t have homework every day. We have three days off every week.

This is my ideal school, but I think it won’t be true!

Elephant

Elephant are very big and strong .They are grey and have long trunks and tusks .

Elephants have poor eyesight, but they have very good hearing and smell .They can carry heavy things and break down branches with their trunks.

Elephant are very friendly to others .As usual ,they live in a group for many years .Each group is led by an old female elephant .Young male elephants don’t leave the group until they are about 12 .

But ,there are very few elephants left in the world . They live smaller and smaller ,their number is less and less , because the land where they live is used for farming .If people continue ,elephants will have nowhere to live .People hunt them for their tusks too. We must stop this .If we don’t stop it ,there will be no elephants left in the world. 

I visited Shandong from 7th to 15th August. I was very happy and excited. I visited Qingdao first. Then I visited Weihai. After that I visited Yantai. At last I visited Rizhao.

I went to Qingdao for May Fourth Square。It was a large public square in Qingdao's central business district. I visited it for 4 hours. I also visited A landing stage. It was the fast-paced life has turned us into machines, doing overloading operations so everyone need a rest and go to travel with relatives or friends. I think QingDao is the best choice.

I went Weihai to swim in the sea. It was so excited.

I went to Yantai on 12th of August. I went to swim in the sea ，too.

I love the trip. I want to visit again.

You really come to the right place .Of cause, there are lots of big and good shops here .You can shop all day in most shopping mall .For example, you can go to Xinjiekou . It is the busiest shopping street in Nanjing .There are many restaurants in it .You can choose any food you like .You can try Salt Duck in one of the Chinese restaurants .

My Trip to the USA

  The summer vacation this year is special for me because I went to the USA. I even can’t believe this trip is really fantastic!

   First, let me tell you about the plan for the trip. Two weeks in West Valley City of Utah with the host family, and one week in California. After them, then I’ll come back to China.

On July 14th, I flew to Salt Lake City, Utah. I arrived in West Valley City in the afternoon. All host families were waiting at the school(we are going to have class there in the next fourteen days). I was excited and found my host family, Evans family quickly and introduced myself to them. They were very glad and also told me about their family after we went home. They are Dad Mark, Mom Cindy, daughter Abby, son Soda, Jayden and the youngest one Ni. Ni is only one year old. They live in a big house with two floors, have two pet dogs. In the first evening, I had fun with the kids in the back yard and got to know each other quickly. This was a great beginning.

During the next fourteen days, I had classes in the morning Monday thru Friday, visited places of Utah in the afternoon and spent time with Evans family in all other time. The classes there were really interesting because our teacher, Jenni spoke with a big smile all the time. We also went to a lot of places, such as the Children Museum, the Museum of Natural History, the church, Great Salt Lake, Fitness Center, Multi-Culture Center, Lagoon, Hogle Zoo, Timpanogos Cave, Temple Square and Liberty Park. I was so excited but a little nervous to go to the church because that was the first time in my life!!! People there are all friendly to me. The famous Great Salt Lake gave me a special memory, looks really beautiful but smells a little bad. Timpanogos Cave, freezing cold inside. Lagoon, a place for crazy guys. Multi-Culture Center, a wonderful place of art… This is my feeling of the visits to those places.

I had a fantastic time with Evans in Utah and I am really thankful for them.

In the next seven days, I went to Los Angeles and San Francisco. I visited Disney Land, Universal Studios, the Demark Town, Golden Gate Bridge, China Town, Stanford University, the Museum of Intel, the University of California Berkeley and so on. That’s full of fun!

This is my wonderful trip to the USA. On the last day, I even didn’t want to leave. When I arrived in China, I was a little sad because I leave America, but also very happy because I was coming back to China, my real home!!!!!!
