[轉]osCommerce template issues with version 3 alpha 52009-06-16 10:38

osCommerce version 3 is currently (as of April 2009) in its 5th Alpha release. Generally speaking, the template platform is working and it is possible to easily install one of the free oscommerce templates available on this site. That said, there are (at least) a couple of issues with the template installation that you may need to be aware of.

osCommerce template activation PHP error

After you’ve uploaded your osCommerce template to the server, logged in to your admin panel and installed the new template, it’s time to set the new osCommerce template as the default template for the site to use. When you do this, you will likely get an error that looks something like:

Notice: Undefined index: configuration in /home/zacharyc/public_html/freeoscommerce.com/demo/store/admin/includes/applications/templates/templates.php on line 45

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/zacharyc/public_html/freeoscommerce.com/demo/store/admin/includes/applications/templates/templates.php:45) in /home/zacharyc/public_html/freeoscommerce.com/demo/store/admin/includes/functions/general.php on line 46

This is not an issue with your free osCommerce template, rather, it is an issue with osCommerce version 3 alpha 5 that needs to be addressed (and I’m sure it will be) in the next release. Although you receive the error message, your template should still install correctly!

Free osCommerce template activation lag time

The second issue I’ve run in to when setting up templates with the new osCommerce 3 system is a lag time between then the template is activated and when it actually shows up on the site itself. I haven’t done a lot of research into why this happens, but I’m guessing it has something to do with caching.

Be aware that this lag time actually varies between web browsers. With Firefox 3.0.9 there was a lag time between when the osCommerce template was activated and when it showed on the site. With Internet Explorer 7 there was no lag time. Since this isn’t a big issue I haven’t taken time to look into it more with other browsers or try to figure it out — too busy working on improving existing osCommerce templates and getting new free osCommerce templates ready for download.
